MUSEUM EXPERIENCE

2003-2008         Arvada Center for the Arts, Arvada, CO.

Installation Assistant/Gallery Guard.  Installation of artwork; paintings, drawings, sculptures, guarding artworks, exhibition design assistance, maintenance of exhibitions and gallery spaces.  Coordinate with artists, directors, curators and other professionals.

2001-2007         CU Art Museum, Boulder, CO.

Assistant to Exhibitions Manager, coordinating with artists, students and faculty, construction; room construction/drywall/finishing, installation of artwork; including high profile artworks, digital media works, installation artworks and other numerous works.  At various times was expected to supervise work study students, manage/assist/supervise artists and students, perform registration/condition reports on artworks, create/design/construct unique exhibition furniture, frame prints and drawings, lighting, build crates for shipping of artworks, supervise shipments of artworks, print and cut documents/advertisements/didactics for exhibitions.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

                  Proficient in the following computer programs (MAC/PC): Microsoft Office, Adobe CS3,                            Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack,                   Audacity, Lightwave Digital 3-D Modeling and Animation.

                  Proficient with any tools.  Specialized in wood-working and metal-working.

RELATED EXPERIENCE

For several of the Artist Assistance positions I was required to install the work as well as supervise other assistants.  Other duties performed as an Artist Assistant included crating, shipping, transportation of works, working with museum directors, curators, and other museum/gallery professionals.  I have been involved with the layout of works, exhibition design and promotion.  As a Shop Manager I found the experience to manage complex jobs and personnel to be beneficial to supervising professionals in the museum field.

Artist’s Assistant/Head Welder-Fabrication of monumental public art works, bronze casting and welding.  Assisted in the day-to-day functions of a large-scale artist’s studio.
