Sculpture 3 (Experiments I and II)
An Intermediate/Advanced level course designed to push the limits of what contemporary sculpture is, how to make it and where it belongs in the world.  Projects are centered on experimenting with these concepts and using traditional and non-traditional materials.  Techniques and methods learned in this course: exploring spatial development, audio recording and production, conceptual thinking, latex rubber and alginate mold making, papermaking, fibers, soft sculpture, installation, video production, making sculpture in non-traditional spaces, site-specific, developing an artist statement and resume.

Sculpture 2 (Visual Thinking)
Students learn conceptual thinking through the physical act of making sculpture and theoretical exploration.  Projects are designed to help discover the students’ personal creative process.  Techniques learned in this course are based on conceptual thought development.

Sound Art: Theory, History and Practice (Special Topics Course)
A survey of the use of sound, voice, noise, silence and modes of listening in the modernist, avant-garde and contemporary visual arts, from the late-19th Century to the present. Special attention to considering what may be new areas of artistic possibility. Explores the history, theory and practice of sound art as it relates to the visual arts.  Aural culture is explored through contemporary art, contemporary music, as well as historical cultures.  Students learn history, theory as well as create their own sound works as it relates to the course and their own interests.

3D Digital Modeling
Introduction level course to 3-D digital modeling and animation.  Using Lightwave 7.5, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Premiere, students learn how to create sculptures in virtual space and make an animation movie to produce the work.  3D modeling is taught as a sculpture course designed to develop student’s concepts of space and time as well as serve as a planning tool in creating large-scale sculptures and installations.

Introduction to Art
Presents creative activity conceptually, and art history thematically, with an interdisciplinary, experimental, and multicultural focus. Students explore visual literacy and culture through presentations and student-centered projects that emphasize individual development. Fundamentals of studio arts are explored through painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, video and film, bookmaking, mural painting, as well as conceptual and creative development.

2005-2006         Adjunct Faculty –Core Art and Media Program; Electronic Media Arts Design
and Digital. University of Denver School of Art and Art History, Denver, CO.

Core Art Media Program
(2D Design) Students are introduced to the major elements and principles of art making practice while strengthening acuity for visual understanding and creation. Each component of the program (C.A.M.P. I, II, and III plus Topics Seminar) will guide students through interdisciplinary and integrated coursework that begins with the basics of design, and then progresses to cultivate visual perceptions and analysis. The role of technical and conceptual skill building will be paramount as students explore connections across material boundaries and develop a vocabulary with which to make and discuss various forms of visual communication. Personal investment, exploration, and risk taking will be encouraged by all CAMP as students move through the program. (excerpted from course description provided by DU)

Site Specific Design
Site Students follow an advanced study of the visual and intrinsic nature of 3-D and 4-D projects in actual and virtual space and an investigation into the conditions that reflect those environments: cultural, social, political, historical and psychological. This course reflects on the word “site” and all its manifestations, definitions and possibilities; site as it exists in situ, as a point of reflection and as virtual occupation. Site Specific Design is a theoretical, critical and practical course addressing how space relates to applications of art and the environment. (excerpted from course description provided by DU)

Concepts and techniques include: clay modeling, plaster mold making, plaster casting, wax casting, plaster carving, wood construction, multiples, spatial development, historical research, transforming the 2-D into 3-D, presentation and aesthetics, materials as metaphor.

3-D Ephemeral Media
This studio course explores the fundamental principles of three-dimensional design such as form, space, shape, value, balance, proportion and movement.
